YellowBlue LED helps printer reduce carbon footprint by 26.5 metric tons!
At Richtman Printing, we are proud of the strong roots we’ve built in our community. Since 1988, we have taken great pride on being a complete source for all of our customers’ business communications needs.
A great deal of our success as a local business is that we value an investment in technology because it can actually save money by improving efficiencies.
As our business continued to experience growth, so did our facility expand. Where we once occupied one unit, we grew to a point where we now occupy six units. With the size of our facility expanding, maintenance also increased. Our facility utilized 465W pulse-start Metal Halide lighting.
Traditional Lighting Maintenance Costs Add Up
While our lights had a 7-year warranty, the ballasts would continue to go out. As with all businesses, printing comes first, and we would just replace the fixtures on an as-needed basis. The amount spent on maintenance alone was significant, and we were confident in the benefits LED lighting would bring. We moved forward with the idea to replace fixtures as needed gradually moving over to LED technology.
YellowBlue LED approached as, and we looked at the opportunity to look at a LED conversion project that would convert all of our existing fluorescent lighting to their LED equivalent.
YellowBlue LED’s assessment was a methodical layout of the entire project by room.
While we thought we were content changing out our own lights on the go, the YellowBlue LED “package” was so easy that we decided to rethink our version of our LED conversion. The assessment laid out to us offered a three-year ROI and that was excluding our rebate and tax incentive. Additionally, YellowBlue LED also took care of our rebate process making the entire project painless from beginning all the way to completion.
Ultimately, we were faced with our cost of waiting. While waiting for fixtures to get to a point where they had to be replaced, the energy expense to run those lights was really adding up.
As we considered the numbers before us, we came to realize that the energy expense with our existing lights over five years far exceeded the project cost to convert to efficient technology.
We were able to purchase all the lighting we needed and still had the option to complete our own install. Since completing our installation, the light quality was immediately noticeable. The shop is much brighter and provides a much better working environment for our employees.
