Kinseth Hospitality Companies saves over $509,977 over ten years with LED lighting rebates
Our commitment to our owners, investors, and associates is the main focus of Kinseth Hospitality Companies. We maintain our commitment through our core values and determination to be the best in our field.
It was with this commitment in mind that we followed up with David and John from Yellowblue LED when they met one of our location managers and started talking about LED lighting for our hotels. While converting our lighting was not on our radar at the time, learning that we could take advantage of significant savings with an average load reduction of 60% certainly piqued our interest.
After meeting with Yellowblue LED, we learned a lot more about the benefits of LED. We were excited about the light quality and how green energy lined up with our values as a company. However, the saving we would see through efficient lighting made us move forward with two or our properties, i.e., Comfort Inn in Davenport and Holiday Inn in Coralville.
Successful LED Rebates And Conversion
The professionalism of David and John and their entire team at Yellowblue LED throughout the first to projects left us with a great impression! Not only did they present us with impressive numbers, but they exceeded our expectations managing the entire process from the time we agreed to the conversion, to installation, following up, and working with us through the rebate process.
Soon after completing the initial projects, we moved forward with the Holiday Inn in Urbandale and as we entered 2019, we completed the Holiday Inn in Dubuque to ensure that we capitalize on the available rebates.
Being able to finance these projects at 2.9% interest made our lighting conversion a no brainer as the instant savings from the load reduction absorbed the finance payment over the first 36 months.
Facing PL Lamp Challenges
Some of the challenges that the Yellowblue LED team were up against included a wide range of PL lamp types. As construction was completed by various construction groups at different times, PL lamps varied, and in some cases even on the same property.
Another challenge the crew faced was facility requirements set forth for the hospitality industry. Some of these requirements dictate the color temperature for lights, and bathrooms have to use the new standard flat panel. In other instances, we were required to upgrade fixtures to volumetric troffers.
What impressed us at Kinseth Hospitality group most was the professionalism and expertise with which Yellowblue LED handled these projects and delivering on product, services and the benefits sold to us.
As a result of converting our lighting systems to LED, we are saving $44,000 in unnecessary expenses every year. Simply changing our lights mean that these properties combined will save $509,977 over the next 10 years.
In addition to our savings, we are further strengthening our brand image through our environmental carbon footprint reduction and the light quality that these projects have brought to our properties.
“We have been very pleased with our experience partnering with David and John and the entire team at Yellowblue LED to convert our lighting to LED. We have seen a reduction in our lighting energy expenses and look forward to the reduced maintenance. The LED lights have transformed four of our properties drastically improving the aesthetics further strengthening our brand image.” Leslie Kinseth, President, Kinseth Hospitality Companies.
